A couple of weekends ago, we celebrated the wedding of very good friends of mine. Lisa & Mike. Mike and I know each other from working together in the wedding industry. He is one of the most talented cinematographers I have ever had the privilege of working with. His lovely bride Lisa, has the most infectious smile ever. She is fun and loves to laugh (although, most of the time I think she is laughing at me!!)
When they asked me to help coordinate their wedding day, I was more than honored. It’s no big surprise I love to coordinate weddings, but when it’s your close friends, it means that much more.
The ceremony took place at Knox College at University of Toronto, what a gorgeous place to get married. The light shone down on them from the stain glass windows above their heads as they were introduced as man and wife….super romantic…
Now, for the introductions, Lisa and Mike were escorted into the room by Lion Dancers. It was one of the coolest things I have seen at a wedding. They are so entertaining, and they give the couple blessings while they dance. Can’t wait to show you those photos.
Here is a formal of Mike, Lisa myself and my husband Paul. Amish Solanki, also a good friend and photog for the day, will have photos up soon. I’ll be sure to link you to them.

October 20, 2009 - 10:02 pmLisa - Jaime... I don't know what to say except THANK YOU and you are amazing. I sincerely apologize for being so last minute but of course you would be able to do more than expected. The day turned out better than I imagined and I sincerely thank you for all your help, time, ideas and suggestions. One of my fondest memories is you walking me from the limo into Knox and how you naturally were able to calm my nerves with you just being "you".
December 24, 2009 - 4:11 amJet Kaiser - I love these. What a great job!
Hey everyone, here is the same day photo slideshow that John Edgar prepared and presented for Julie & Martin’s wedding. This was a surprise to Julie, so it was awesome to see her face and all the emotions.
Julie & Martin tied the knot last Saturday (pics to come) We planned for an outdoor ceremony months ago. Just adding to the pre-wedding anxiety, wouldn’t you know that the forecast was calling for rain all day and thunderstorms!!!’
We had to ask ourselves if we wanted to get a tent and do it outside or instead resort to having it inside the Art Gallery of Hamilton. We hummed and hawed about it for days. Final decision..let’s take the risk. If it was going to be that rainy, Julie & Martin wouldn’t want their guests outside anyway. I kept reassuring her, “don’t worry, it will be fine, it won’t rain. The Weather Network is never right”
I wake up to thunder. Eeeek! It was so rainy, I got soaked getting my morning Tim Horton’s. Think positive, think positive I kept telling myself. I prayed on the way down to the Gallery, “Dear God, please stop the rain, Julie & Martin really want to get married outside”.
More thunder.
Noon came around, the skies cleared and the sun came out. Julie & Martin did have an outdoor ceremony and cocktail reception. It was awesome. Moral of the story, stay positive. (and have a plan B!)
I’ll post pictures as soon as I get them from the creative John Edgar.
July 21, 2009 - 5:19 pmMartin Monne - jaime, this wedding was perfect in my eyes........without you, we wouldn't of had it this way. thanks to you with all the attention to detail. everyone that i talked to, that attended our wedding kept telling me it was the very beautiful and the greatest!
if i ever get married a second time, i'll be happy to hire you again. lol!
I braved the torrential downpour yesterday to meet and chat with Kathy DeMerchant. This mother of 3, (newest addition, adorable little baby Emma) and full time wedding photographer has got it going on! She is calm and welcoming and very easy to talk to. Traits she carries with her while meeting couples and shooting weddings.
Kathy started out working at the Hamilton Spectator. After meeting and marrying her husband Rick (also her second shooter), she took a keen interest in photography. It wasn’t long before she started her own company and booked her first wedding. Kathy is very relaxed when working with couples and has no problem getting goofy to get a laugh or giggle out of them. I get that vibe when looking at images of couples on their wedding day.
What’s important to Kathy? Engagement sessions. I have to totally agree. There’s no better way to see how you click…he he..in front of the camera. Some couples are naturals and don’t need any help at all, and some couples need a little nudge to get comfy in front of the lens. Kathy includes an e-session with all her collections.
Take a look at some of her images, you’ll feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
I received a call from Maria Vrontos from Little Party Goers introducing herself and her services a couple of days ago. They offer child care and entertainment at weddings and events. Check out her website. What an awesome way to bring your kids to a wedding and have them entertained while you have fun yourself!
June 25, 2009 - 1:37 pmMaria - Jaime, thank you for the post.
August 7, 2009 - 11:13 amToni Markos - Jaime I meant to tell you about Maria the last time we spoke...she's awesome! I've known her for many years and Little Party Goers is great!
Time to kick off our associate reviews for my new project with Krista Jefferson…check out a few blog posts below to refresh! I wanted to start off with a bang, and automatically thought of Jennifer Elliotson of Vintage Design Co. We had recently met with a bride and I fell in love with Jennifer’s style, passion for flowers and her barn!
As Krista and I were driving up today, I was trying to explain how beautiful Jennifer’s place was, and most of all, this big old barn that sits in the backyard. It’s where Jennifer can sit down with couples and chat about the wedding, discuss what flowers you love and help create beautiful arrangements for the big day. The barn itself is around 100 years old and greets you with the sweet smell of peonies. It’s comfortable and inviting…kind of like Jennifer.
Vintage Design Co. started in Port Dalhousie in 2001, they have since moved to Jordan Station and have been working out of their barn studio. Mark, Jennifer’s husband also helps with stationary design and printing. Together, they can help blend different colours, fabrics and designs to accentuate the theme of the wedding. Jennifer spoke so emotionally about her love for flowers, and how she used to watch daffodils grow as a kid. She uses such emotion when she talk about flowers. Jennifer explains that ’seeing candles die and flowers wilt before the end of the night makes her sad, and really, watching her face made me sad too. She really expresses all her emotions so vividly.
When I asked her what her favourite flower is, she looked at me kind of funny and said “well, they are all my favourite” followed by the biggest smile I think I have ever seen. She could have gone on forever about flowers. With her love and respect for them she says “Flowers are a gift from God…gardens are a source of healing” Some of her favourite flowers this season are peonies, garden roses and random greens from the garden. Orchids are also beautiful and are available year round.
When given creative control, Jennifer can capture the personality of a couple. She evaluates skin tones, hair colour and lifestyle to help create the perfect bouquet, boutonniere and centerpiece. I know I’ve mentioned several times just how passionate she is about her flowers, but she really glows when she talks about them.
I had so much fun sitting and chatting with Jennifer today. I also left with a pretty little bouquet of pink peonies that are sitting on my kitchen table. You can keep up with Jennifer’s work on her blog.

I had the utmost pleasure of coordinating Julie & Graeme’s wedding this past Saturday. The weather was gorgeous, the location beautiful and the guests were energetic and fun.
Julie contacted me back in January and was interested in having the same day coordination package for her wedding. Graeme works in Regina for most of the time and Julie was attending to most of the wedding planning by herself. She did an amazing job at picking out the particulars for the day. Check out her awesome shoes!! Julie really wanted to just relax that day and enjoy her day with Graeme and having the same day coordination package was perfect for a bride like her.
There were a few surprises to pull off. We had Molsie, Julie & Graeme’s adorable Labradoodle dog show up for some formals. We also had a surprise speech from one of Graeme’s closest friends and a surprise slide show of Julie & Graeme’s life together. It was so nice to see Graeme’s face with each surprise.
So check out some of their photo’s taken by the ever so talented Krista Jefferson of Edison Photography

You were such a blessing to us that day and the weeks leading up to the wedding :) Graeme filled me in on one of the glitches you had to deal with that day while we were on our honeymoon ;) I am so glad I never knew about it that day!!!! Thanks for everything!!!
I would like to introduce you to Krista Jefferson of Edison Photography. She is a top notch photographer with an amazing creative flair. Krista is shooting the wedding of one of the couples (Julie & Grame) I am working with this summer. As I’m sure you can tell by her photos she is a tonne of fun!
I met with Krista last week to discuss working on some projects together. Krista and I will be meeting twice a month to review preferred wedding associates like florists, patisseries and salons. We will visit with these preferred vendors for a couple of hours to learn about the passion they have for their craft. Then we will share all this information with you. So keep checking the blog for updates as there are some really great posts coming soon!
May 17, 2009 - 9:06 amMona Kaspo - Ooooooooohhhhhhhh, I love this!!! It's a great way to teach the kids at school the different expressions we have when we feel different things. Wow....Can I use it in my classroom? : ) Nice photo shoot. Really beautiful!!

May 18, 2009 - 2:47 pmJulie - Awesome idea Jaime!!
I just wanted to take a minute to introduce you to Julie and Martin. They are one of the most energetic and fun couples I have met this year. Julie is hilarious! She does the best eighties workout video instructor impression I’ve ever seen. On top of that, she makes delicious cupcakes too; she is truly the complete package. As for Martin, he is very kind and genuine. He is a true gentleman.
Last night I was at Julie and Martin’s house discussing the wedding and looking over their recent engagement photos (which are spectacular!). I could see that their engagement photos session has really heightened the level of excitement for their wedding day. You can check out the engagement photos online here and get excited too!
The photographer, John, took Julie and Martin to some rustic locations in Hamilton, and this couple was willing to get a little dirty to get some truly great shots. No doubt, this couple’s wedding is going to be a hit, with pictures to match. Looking forward to the big day!
Julie and Martin tie the knot on July 11th, 2009 at the Art Gallery of Hamilton.
May 6, 2009 - 8:40 pmJoanne - I agree, Julie and Martin are an amazingly kind and refreshingly funny couple!! Those shots that their photographer John did are pretty cool and unique! I still have a smile on my face thinking about the 80's workout queen... we need a shot of that sometime!!! Can't wait to see their wedding photos!!
May 6, 2009 - 10:31 pmMona Kaspo - Wow, this is beautiful work. I love these pictures and the couple look like they are a perfect match. Nice work!!
